Support www.torontocip.com's Mission

ADAIKPOH DUMEBI

ABOUT FOUNDER

Growing up as the youngest of four children, i was raised where love, connection and strong family bonds where a way of life. Experiencing that deep sense of support shaped my understanding of what it truly means to belong and continues to influence everything I do today.

My upbringing was grounded in values of equality, fairness, love and respect for all people, regardless of age or gender. These principles have remained a constant guide in both my personal journey and professional pursuits.

A defining turning point in my life came when I relocated to Canada. That transition opened my eyes to the realities of starting over in a new environment, navigating uncertainty, seeking acceptance and building a life from scratch.

THE INSPIRATION BEHIND TCIP

The idea for TCIP was born from lived experience. Relocating to a a new continent with 3 young children was both challenging and transformative. I experienced first hand the emotional, social and practical difficulties that come with being an immigrant . Especially the need for support, direction and a sense of community.

I realized that many others share this journey, both now and in the future. TCIP was created as a response to that need. A platform to give back, support others and build a safe, inclusive space where black immigrants can feel seen, supported and empowered.

OUR PURPOSE

At it's core, TCIP exists to bridge the gap for individuals starting afresh in a new environment. We aim to provide guidance, resources and a strong support system to make the transition smoother and more meaningful.

This cause is deeply personal because I believe that through TCIP, many will find clarity, direction and renewed sense of belonging.

WHAT IS TCIP

Toronto Community Improvement Program(TCIP) is a community driven initiative committed to supporting Black immigrants as they navigate life in new environments. It serves as a safe space that fosters connection, inclusion and empowerment. Helping individuals and families not just survive but truly thrive.
